RBF Supports the Agriculture Show

The Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) today expressed their support of the Ministry of Primary Industries 2010 Crest Agriculture Show from 21 – 24 July by sponsoring the Farmer of the Year Award and the Young Farmer of the Year Award.
In announcing the sponsorship, the RBF Governor, Sada Reddy, said that “the Agriculture show is welcomed, given the importance of the sector to economic development, particularly in increasing exports, promoting local value adding and import substitution, which all work towards supporting our balance of payments. In this regard, I wish to congratulate the Government and the Ministry of Primary Industries for this excellent initiative and the support from Crest Fiji Limited.”
The awards for the overall winners in each of the two sponsored categories will comprise a cash component and trophy, superbly hand-crafted by a local micro-entrepreneur. The awards were handed over to the Ministry of Primary Industries’ Permanent Secretary, Mr. Mason Smith, by Governor Reddy.
The theme of the Agriculture Show is “Feed Fiji First: Go Local”. It will showcase fish and forestry products, crops and livestock cultivated or bred in Fiji and will involve key stakeholders from all these sectors.
