With the abrogation of Fiji’s Constitution the Office of the Governor became vacant. However, pursuant to the State Services Decree 2009, the Office of the Governor has been now re- established.
The Reserve Bank has appointed Mr Sada Reddy as the new Governor with effect from 15 April 2009 for a period of 3 years.
Mr Reddy who has held the position of Deputy Governor in the Bank for the last 14 years is highly regarded for his experience and expertise in economic and financial policy matters. Mr Reddy joined the Reserve Bank in 1975 and has served in various senior roles in the Bank.
Mr Sada Reddy was also the Chairman of Housing Authority for 6 years and is currently the Chair of the Fiji School of Medicine and Deputy Chair of Capital Markets Development Authority. Mr Reddy holds a Masters in Economics Degree with Distinction from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
The Bank is pleased with Mr Reddy’s appointment as it provides continuity to the leadership of this very important national institution.
