The Reserve Bank of Fiji, in collaboration with Gilt Investments Pty Ltd, Australia, recently held a training and capacity building workshop for local market participants to enhance knowledge and promote awareness on the money and bond markets, as well as portfolio management techniques.
The event, held from 24 – 26 of April at the Reserve Bank, was facilitated by a team of experienced investment consultants and was attended by 25 participants from various local financial institutions.
The workshop program provided an opportunity for market participants to upskill their knowledge on fixed income products, in particular, the characteristics of the primary and secondary fixed income markets, and deepen their understanding of the different forms of securities, valuation techniques and portfolio management principles and practices. In addition, various aspects of secondary market trading, lifecycles and demographic considerations on fund management were covered during the training.
The event also provided a platform for the financial market participants to collaborate and exchange ideas on the different fixed income products and services, the market’s responsiveness to innovative trends and compliance with best practices when managing portfolios.
The Reserve Bank will continue to support specialised technical capacity building events and platforms to encourage knowledge sharing amongst industry players who play an important role in serving their institutions and ultimately the public.
